Antique 1800's French Empire Gilt Bronze Mantel Clock “Amour Alaplus Belle” • This is a beautiful antique French Empire table/mantel clock with pendulum. It was made from gilded bronze, in about 1830. It has a white enamel dial plate with roman numerals. It still has its original authentic gilded bronze work. It is 24 carat gold, fire gilded bronze and looks like a jewel. • This clock is uniquely beautiful in that it combines true creative artistry with conventional, classical, figurine aesthetics. It has a multi-layered base, decorated with typically French ornaments and relief figurines. On the left side beautifully decorated figurine of a warrior holding a shield with a sign “AMOUR ALAPLUS BELLE” • The large dial is in good vintage condition, it has bronze roman numerals and 2 bronze hands • T he clock mechanism is running fine , but the clock needs running by a professional clock maker . It was tuned a few years ago. • The clock works for 8 days with a string suspension of the pendulum. • It comes complete with the rewinding key, bell and the pendulum. It chimes every half and full hour (optional). • Approximate measurements are: H - 20 inch high. W- 17 inch wide.
