I Love a Mystery! Old Time Radio Shows I Love A Mystery is often considered by many radio fans and collectors as the greatest radio adventure serial of all time! Written and directed by Carlton E. Morse , I Love a Mystery , (or "The Mystery" as it is known by many of its fans), first appeared on NBC’s Pacific Coast outlets in January 1939, before going coast to coast later that fall, and appeared on-and-off over nearly every broadcast network until the final reprisal show at the end of 1953. Fast paced, deftly scripted, and Fleischmann’s dried-yeast vitaminized with over-the-top-excitement, I love a Mystery is still beloved by fans of radio mystery drama over 65 years after it first appeared over the airwaves. The show seemed to weave a spell over its fans. It was the tale of three partners, Jack Packard, Doc Long and Reggie Yorke who had formed the A-1 detective agency. The three partners were adventurers who traveled the world in search of action, thrills and mystery, battling the evils of natural and supernatural and often rescuing women in distress. Who could not love a show with such luridly shudder-pulpy titles as Temple of Vampires , The Pirate Loot of the Island of Skulls , Bury Your Dead Arizona & The Thing that Cries in the Night ? I Love a Mystery appeared in two separate network radio runs (one in Hollywood, the second originating from New York City a decade later), spawned three 1940s movies, a comic strip, and a single television series pilot. I Love A Mystery is even credited for inspiring the writers of the original Hanna-Barbara cartoon, "Scooby Doo--Where Are You" ! # # # FIRST BROADCAST: January 16th 1939 LAST BROADCAST: December 26th 1952 CAST: Michael Raffetto, John McIntire, Jay Novello, Barton Yarborough, Walter Paterson, Gloria Blondell, Mercedes Mc Cambridge, Barbara Jean Wong, Cathy and Elliott Lewis, Jack Edwards, Lal Chand Mehra, Ben Alexander, Edgar Norton, Richard LeGrand, Cliff Arquette, Naomi Stevens, Russell Thorson, Robert Dryden, Jim Boles, Tony Randall, Luis Van Rooten.
