Vintage ABBEY PRESS PAPERWEIGHT CUBE "GRANDMOTHER"-1976-Desk Decor-Brown/Beige Let your grandmother know how much she means to you with this really neat vintage cube shaped paperweight! The paperweight was made in 1976 by Abbey Press of St. Meinrad, Indiana. The cube is made of hard molded plastic formed to look like various fonts of text carved into a wooden cube. The text is all endearing words to describe grandmothers. Although the piece is made of plastic it is weighted, coming in at 1 lb. 4 ounces. Abbey Press was part of the Catholic monastery located in Spencer County, Indiana that was founded in 1854 by monks who had immigrated from Switzerland. The Press was founded in 1867 when the monks purchased a used printing press. Abbey Press was an international company that grew to market religious, spiritual, and inspirational cards, books, and gifts. The Press supported the ministries of the St. Meinrad Archabbey. Abbey Press closed in 2017 after 150 years of operation. There appears to be dried masking tape residue on the bottom. Please see pictures. Excellent pre-owned condition.
